The day the people of light came out to see the sun

Mohammed Alloush
Before dawn, they emerged like the sun from the womb of the night, in droves carrying their souls on their palms, walking in the footsteps of those who had engraved the oath of loyalty deep within them. They flowed like a river heading to its estuary, standing like an oak tree clinging to its roots, waving like a willow bidding farewell to its loved ones in the wind.
The Beirut Sports City was not just a square, but a sanctuary where the meanings of eternal love were revealed, where souls rose before hands, and hearts cheered before throats, in a farewell befitting those who raised the pillars of dignity and built the domes of victory from their blood.
All eyes were fixed on the master of the nation’s martyrs, the comforter of the faithful and the chosen one, the leader of the resistance who unleashed his green dawn in our days, the one the earth drew on its wrist, and with every step, you feel his impact, his promise that planted hope in the generations and his mouth that illuminated the speech, so it became the decisive word, the path that does not go astray, and the promise that does not dissipate.
Like the sea in its great tide, the crowds poured in, so the roads were crowded with them until they became narrow, and the squares turned into restless waves. The mourners were not numbers, but one body, its pulse chanting the name of the one they made a destination for their love, a banner for their pride, and a light for their path extending to Jerusalem.
“Peace be upon you the day you were born, the day you faced, the day you stood firm, and the day you rose as a star that never sets.” This was the farewell, the eyes of leaders who refused to be extinguished, voices that pierced the sky, and an oath written in blood: “The banner will never fall.”
The rushing river of crowds was not moving towards an end, but towards a renewed beginning, towards an era that blossoms from every drop of blood that was shed, to confirm that martyrs do not die, but rather return as roses and roots that penetrate the earth, and wings of freedom and dignity that soar in the sky of the cause.
In Beirut and its southern suburbs, as in every corner of the country, the farewell was a cry that shook the enemy’s foundations: “Humiliation is out of our reach,” confirming that this people, after the funeral, will emerge more determined and steadfast than ever before.
The beginning of the speech of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, during the funeral ceremony of the two martyrs, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine.
Sheikh Qassem: I address you in the name of my brother, my beloved, and my leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Peace be upon you, the most honorable, loyal, and generous of people. You who have raised our heads high.
Today we bid farewell to an exceptional historical leader who represents the Qiblah of the free people of the world.
Today we bid farewell to the beloved of the Mujahideen, the people, the poor, the oppressed, the tortured on earth, and the Palestinians.
Sheikh Qassem: Sayyed Nasrallah assumed the presidency of Hezbollah’s Executive Council in 1989, then the General Secretariat in 1992, and continued until the day of his martyrdom.
The dear Sayyid led the resistance to the nation and led the nation to the resistance.
This great man was absorbed in Islam and the guardianship. He is honest, loyal, compassionate, generous, humble, steadfast, brave, wise, strategic, and beloved by the resistance.
Sheikh Qassim: I miss you, my master, and all those who love you miss you, but you remain in us with your approach, your teachings, your path, and your struggle.
Sheikh Qassem to the Holy Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah: We will keep your will. We will complete this path even if we are all killed and even if our homes are destroyed over our heads.
Sayyed Habib is the resistance fighters’ darling, and his destination is Palestine and Jerusalem. He is the one who contributed to reviving this cause.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's contribution was great in reviving the Palestinian cause, and we will preserve the trust and continue on this path.
The Sayyed was martyred in the advanced position.
Sheikh Qassem: Who was martyred with His Eminence Sayyed Nasrallah, the brigadier general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hajj Abu al-Fadl, Hajj Ali Ayoub, Hajj Abdul Amir al-Sabilini, and Hajj Muhammad Khair al-Din
All condolences and congratulations to the families of the two noble gentlemen, the martyrs of the resistance, and to the members and lovers.
Sheikh Qassem: We salute the prisoners and tell them we will not leave you with the enemy and we will lead all the necessary pressures to release you.
Sheikh Qassem: Today's crowd is an expression of loyalty that is unparalleled in Lebanon's history.
The Battle to Support Gaza is Part of Our Belief in the Liberation of Palestine.
We confronted the “Israeli” entity and the greatest tyrant, America, which mobilized all its capabilities to confront the axis of resistance that surrounded Gaza and Palestine
The amount of pressure was unprecedented on the resistance, its fighters and its environment, but the amount of steadfastness was also unprecedented.
Sheikh Qassim: Now we are in a new phase, and this phase has different tools, methods, and how to deal with it.
Know that the resistance exists and is strong in number, equipment and people.
The resistance continues with its presence and readiness. Resistance is faith and right, and no one can take this right away from us.
Sheikh Qassem: The most important step we have taken is for the Lebanese state to assume its responsibilities.
“Israel” cannot continue its occupation and aggression.
Sheikh Qassim: We launch when we see fit and we are patient when we see fit.
Resistance is written in blood and does not need ink on paper.
We committed ourselves, but Israel did not. We were patient and did not respond. After the withdrawal deadline ended, we were faced with an occupation and aggression called a point or 5 points. This is an occupation and aggression. The bombing of the Lebanese interior is called aggression.
Sheikh Qassem: We say to America, you will not achieve in politics what you did not achieve in war. If you are moving freely now and pressuring the officials in Lebanon, you will not achieve your goals because the officials in Lebanon know the balance of power. Therefore, I advise you to stop the conspiracies. Do not interpret our wisdom as weakness, because the path is long and we will not submit.
Sheikh Qassem: O advocates of sovereignty, wake up. Are you not amazed that we emerged from under the rubble and forced “Israel” to request a ceasefire?
Palestine is a right and it is our compass. We support its liberation and we will confront Trump’s displacement project with all the forces in the region. 160,000 martyrs and wounded in Gaza. These are the real price for us to continue our covenant.
Sheikh Qassem: We will participate in the government and the state within the principles that include the release of the occupation and prisoners, reconstruction, and the approval of the rescue plan.
We are allied with the Amal Movement in an alliance that was sealed with blood. Do not think of playing games between us, for we are one in our position and choices.
Lebanon is the final homeland for all its sons and we are its sons.
In an unprecedented public scene, Lebanon bid farewell today to the master of the nation’s martyrs, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and Sayyed Hashemi Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, during a solemn funeral ceremony held in the Sports City in Beirut, attended by huge crowds from various regions, in addition to official and popular delegations from Lebanon and abroad.
During the ceremony, Hezbollah Secretary-General His Eminence Sheikh Naim Qassem delivered a moving speech in which he addressed the crowds, saying: “I address you in the name of my brother, my beloved, and my leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Peace be upon you, the most honorable, loyal, and generous of people, you who have raised our heads high.”
He added: “Today we bid farewell to an exceptional historical leader, the destination of the free people of the world, and the beloved of the mujahideen, the oppressed, and the tortured on earth, a man who led the resistance to the nation, and led the nation to the resistance, and his destination was always Palestine and Jerusalem.”
He pointed out that Sayyed Nasrallah assumed the presidency of Hezbollah’s Executive Council in 1989, then the General Secretariat in 1992, and continued to lead it until the day of his martyrdom, stressing that “this great man was absorbed in Islam and the guardianship. He was honest, loyal, compassionate, generous, humble, steadfast, brave, wise, strategic, and beloved by the resistance fighters.”
Commitment to resistance and continuation of the march
Sheikh Qassem continued: “I miss you, my master, and all those who love you miss you, but you will remain in us with your approach, your teachings, and your struggle. We will keep your will, and we will continue on this path even if we are all killed and our homes are destroyed over our heads.” He added: “Sayyed Nasrallah, the beloved of the resistance, his destination is Palestine and Jerusalem, and he was martyred in an advanced position.”
He stressed that Hezbollah will continue to defend the Palestinian cause, saying: “Mr. Nasrallah’s contribution was great in reviving the Palestinian cause, and we will keep the trust and follow this path.”
He also offered his condolences and congratulations to the families of the two great martyrs, the martyrs of the resistance, and all the lovers and supporters, and he saluted the prisoners in the occupation prisons, saying: “We will not leave you with the enemy, and we will make every effort to release you.”
Challenges and confrontation with the occupation
His Eminence pointed out that the scale of the Israeli crimes was unprecedented, adding: “The enemy’s goal was to end the resistance in Gaza and Lebanon, but the scale of the sacrifices was great, and the steadfastness was exceptional, and this is a great achievement.”
He also stressed that today's mass mobilization is an expression of loyalty that is unparalleled in Lebanon's history, affirming that the battle to support Gaza is part of the belief in the liberation of Palestine.
In the context of the confrontation with the occupation, he said: “We faced the Israeli entity and the greatest tyrant, America, which mobilized all its capabilities to confront the axis of resistance, but we proved our steadfastness.” He added: “The resistance is present and strong in number and equipment, and our people are steadfast, and now we have entered a new phase with different tools and methods.”
Commitment to agreements and responsibility of the Lebanese state
Sheikh Qassem explained that Hezbollah agreed to the enemy’s request for a ceasefire based on strategic considerations, adding: “We adhered to the agreement, but Israel did not adhere to it, and here the responsibility of the Lebanese state begins after the end of the agreement’s deadline for the enemy’s withdrawal.”
He stressed that the resistance is continuing, strong in its presence and readiness, and that it is a right that no one can take away, stressing that Israel must withdraw from all the areas it still occupies.
He said: “We have taken a clear step, which is for the Lebanese state to assume its responsibilities, and we will act according to the circumstances, opening fire when we see fit, and being patient when we see fit.”
He concluded by emphasizing that resistance is written in blood and does not need ink on paper, directing a message to the enemy: “Die in your anger, the resistance remains, is strong and continues.”
A message to America and the advocates of sovereignty
Sheikh Qasik addressed a direct message to America, saying: “Know, Americans, that you will not be able to achieve your goals. I advise you to stop your conspiracies, and do not interpret our patience as weakness, for we will not accept the occupation while we watch.”
He also addressed the advocates of sovereignty in Lebanon, saying: “Wake up, what did you do when you had the opportunity to reach an agreement? Where are you now? We do not hear a single word from you against Israel and America.”
He added: "Doesn't it amaze you that we emerged from under the rubble, regained the initiative, and forced Israel to request a ceasefire?"
Emphasis on constants and alliances
Sheikh Qassem stressed that Hezbollah is the son of the school of resistance and guardianship, saying: “We are the sons of Imam Khamenei, Imam Khomeini, the sons of Musa al-Sadr, Sayyed Abbas al-Moussawi, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din, Hajj Qassem Soleimani, and Hajj Imad Mughniyeh.”
He pointed to the constants of the new phase, stressing that resistance is the foundation, and will remain an option as long as the occupation persists. He also stressed the party’s commitment to participating in building a strong and just Lebanese state under the umbrella of the Taif Agreement, saying: “We are keen on the unity of the nation, civil peace, and everyone’s participation in building the state.”
He concluded his speech by emphasizing the strength of the alliance with the Amal Movement, saying: “Our alliance was sealed with blood, so do not think about playing games between us, as we are one in position, choices, and policy.”
In his farewell to Sayyed Nasrallah, he said: “In the company of God, Sayyed Nasrallah, with your chosen one, the prophets, and the martyrs... This is one of God’s days, and this is one of Hussein’s days, my dear Hussein.”
Hezbollah and Amal Movement jointly denounce any continued Zionist occupation of Lebanon
Hezbollah and Amal Movement announced on Thursday their absolute rejection of the continued Israeli occupation of any part of Lebanese territory and condemned the repeated violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty by land, sea, and air.
The Hezbollah and Amal Movement leaderships stressed in a joint statement that these violations represent a clear breach of international legitimacy, especially Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement.
The statement referred to the continued Israeli occupation aggression and its destruction of homes, villages, and agricultural lands as part of an aggressive approach that reflects Israel’s intentions towards Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.
The two leaderships called on the international community to take action to compel Israeli occupation to implement Resolution 1701, withdraw completely from Lebanese territory, and stop its attacks. They also stressed the need to prioritize reconstruction within the tasks of the new government.
The statement concluded with a salute to the martyrs, the residents of the border areas, and all those who sacrificed to liberate Lebanese territory.
Amidst an atmosphere filled with sadness, pride and honor, the capital Beirut witnessed the funeral ceremonies of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hashem Safieddine in the Sports City, in a majestic scene that embodies the highest meanings of determination and insistence on following the path of the martyrs.
The participants in the funeral chanted slogans of loyalty and covenant, affirming their adherence to the footsteps of the two dear martyrs, and expressing the great loss of the leaders. Despite the extent of the pain, they renewed the pledge that the martyrdom of the two gentlemen will only be fuel that strengthens the resistance and strengthens its resolve, stressing that the march will continue to advance towards more victories on the road to Jerusalem.
Tens of thousands flocked from different Lebanese regions and countries around the world to participate in this majestic procession, as the bodies of the two martyrs walked, carried on the shoulders of loyalty, while the living words of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, which he delivered in his previous speeches, echoed in the air, calling for adherence to the resistance and moving forward on the path of jihad, until victory or martyrdom.
In an atmosphere filled with moving chants such as “Labayk Ya Nasrallah” and “Ana alaqad Ya Nasrallah,” the sky glowed with the light of pride and dignity. The participants also chanted the Ashura chants “Humiliation is far from us,” affirming that the path that Sayyed Nasrallah, Sayyed Safieddine, and the martyr leaders have drawn with their pure blood, will continue steadfastly toward victory and clear conquest.
As the two coffins entered the funeral square, the emotions of the participants flared up, and their tears flowed over the loss of the two dear gentlemen, while they affirmed that they will preserve this pure blood, and continue to follow the path of the martyrs who ascended from the Battle of Badr until the Flood of Al-Aqsa, in order to raise the banner of truth and sacrifice.
Representatives of Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei are participating in the funeral ceremonies of martyred leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and martyr Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din, headed by Hojjat al-Islam Sayyed Mojtaba al-Husseini, who read Imam Khamenei’s statement at the ceremony.
In the statement read by Sayyed Mojtaba al-Husseini, Imam Khamenei stressed that “the great mujahid and pioneering resistance leader in the region, His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (may Allah elevate his status), has now reached the pinnacle of glory. His pure body is being buried in the land of jihad in the path of Allah, but his spirit and approach will shine more and more day by day, God willing, and will illuminate the path of those who follow it.”
He added, “Let the enemy know that the resistance in the face of usurpation, injustice and arrogance will remain, and will not stop until the desired goal is achieved, God willing.” He said, “As for the blessed name and luminous face of His Eminence Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din (may God be pleased with him), he is also a shining star in the history of this region. He was a loyal supporter and an integral part of the leadership of the resistance in Lebanon.”
He concluded his message, “May the peace of God and the peace of His righteous servants be upon these two lofty mujahideen, and upon all the brave mujahideen who have recently been martyred, and upon all the martyrs of Islam.
