He did I agree Jack. However, the Usrael terrorist regime is still destroying Syria to try and ensure it can never recover. It reminds me of what they did to Yemen.

God willing Jack

It certainly seems like not one elected leader really gives a shit other than Yemen. That is terrifying and now the axis of resistance is broken.

100% Jack

Justin Amash a previous US Congressman also had his family attacked in a church in Gaza. This al-Jolani in Syria is a US product of Camp Bucca. I have started looking for his background on request of another Substack contact here.

Not surprised. That's just genocidal Israel for you.

And the world is spineless

Expand full comment

Yes indeed, and not one damn person on this planet should feel safe and secure. They are not. The so called world leaders just give lip service and do nothing.

Not ALL of it. But, a lot of it, yeah.

I think that may be the PLAN, although I doubt Israel knows that.

The entire area, most of the ME, is sitting on top of VAST amounts of resources that the US covets... So typical. So banal. So EVIL.

Because the world leaders .and all of us with our materialistic lifestyles are complicit.

not all of us are materialistic ... just saying.

I like briefs. Due to the subject matter, plus the likelihood that I'm also behind on going through all the email I get, I tend to skim anyway. But that said, I think you should do what you feel is best for you, and for the subject matter. You don't even have to follow a set thing, you can just do whatever you want! But I DO think that what you do, generally speaking, is a PUBLIC SERVICE and is a very effective and helpful SERVICE to the under-educated (in the truths about places like Gaza and the horror show going on there) in the US and elsewhere...

I can't say this enough: THANK YOU for what you do, Carina!!! You were well-named. And you do a great job with some very distressing subject matter. xo xo xo xo xo

I'm finally starting to make headway in getting my sheep together...

Got a couple of possibles for housing, got a gal who knows a TON of people in a town a bit north of me, a Viking town, it's a great place, I could happily move there... And giving out home-made business cards (of course, there's dogs on the back, lol), and have ordered some professional cards, too...

MAYBE my sheep are getting HERDED now! ;)

Thanks for being so supportive in every way... xo xo

Love you much and when I can will send some more support your way 💚

You are sooo sweet! That woman I was telling you about ^ She may be a new client! I'm going to visit her in a little while... Could be The New Beginning! And I think, with her, or through her, I may find a new place to live, at least for a little while... We shall see. Cross your fingles for me! ;)

I can maybe get by, so hold onto those bucks for now.

Dear Carina, my suggestion: You should continue to do the weekly International News Roundups. But in the time that you might do News Briefs, or any other of your good work, you should instead shut out as much of the insanity of our insane and dystopian world as you can, and focus on rest, gardening, meditation, personal interactions, and the pursuit of joy - not just because you deserve that, and have earned it, but because it is the greatest tribute that you can make to those who are unable to do these things. You have always fought valiantly in service to others and continue to do so - but taking the time to enrich your life and well-being in positive ways, and to pursue happiness, is not an abandonment of the good fight - of resisting what needs to be opposed - it is an acknowledgement that these things are important and beneficial. And as you pursue this fulfillment, you should not feel guilty or irresponsible. You should dedicate these activities in the hopes and wishes for those who you strive to support to be able to do the same as well, even if living happy lives is currently beyond their ability.

I clicked "other" Carina, because I'm worried you're taking too much on, and doing a full roundup one a week in addition to these briefs seems like a lot. But then it occured to me that these posts provide the material for the longer roundups.

So, the bottom line for me is that you do what is best and easiest for you. I will read regardless, and don't care about the number of emails I get.

I'm completely heartbroken this morning following the news from Syria and, of course, Palestine. I'm certain you feel the same. Looks like the shit-stain state and it's imperial western backers are going for broke, whilst Russia and Iran play "diplomacy" in Turkey! Gutted!

Take good care of yourself, Sis. With all my love. 🇵🇸💚🇵🇸

Thank you Kali 💚🇵🇸

I have to say after this morning I was about ready to give all the resistance up. I am not going to do that but this fake ceasefire, Palestine being ignored while slaughtered, and then the fall of Syria for the benefit of Erdogan and Nutteryahoo is just too much. Without Nasrallah and Assad I feel so lost and heartbroken. Honestly though, maybe now Assad can live and enjoy his children who are now almost grown instead of fighting the terrorist west. He deserves it and at least he is still alive unlike Nasrallah 💔

Many thanks for including my Substack story on the criminalisation of homelessness in Salamanca (Spain) in your news brief, Carina.

You do such an amazing job on covering international news, most especially so on Gaza, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon and the Middle East as a whole.

Most welcome @Brett Hetherington thank you! I am heart broken and crushed today after the fall of Syria … but I will recover eventually. First Nasrallah and now Assad 💔

Expand full comment

I personally agree with Yanis Varoufakis (DiEM 25) on this. He said today: "...the fall of a dictator must always give us pause, even for one moment, to smile. If a brutish dictatorship is the only way to keep out imperialists, zionists & jihadists we must have been doing something wrong. If we lose sight of that, barbarism wins." Of course, we are all fearing that something even worse is coming to Syria very soon.

Expand full comment

I personally admire Assad and would be happy to have him as my PM or President. Now Damascus is burning, Israel is moving in, public executions are taking place and the holy shrines are on fire. Smile if you think that is worth it … they also looted the central bank.

Expand full comment

There's a lot of smiling people in Damascus who seem to be hoping for better now but I fear for them because, as I said, something worse is coming and we know that is Israeli-backed, yes.

Expand full comment

You can not fix stupid smile now before they behead you ... I find that hard to believe when Assad had a huge turnout for his presidential election and won with 83% of the votes. I am not falling for the western propaganda. The ones smiling are the western axis of evil and their pet israel
